Dental clinics, implant practices and dentists in Kolkata

Digital Marketing For Dental Clinics In Kolkata, Built Around The NMC Rules

Dental clinics and implant practices need to explain treatments, fees, clinic information and services without turning patient concerns into sales pressure. In dentistry, discounts, "painless" claims and smile-transformation photographs make promotional content especially hard to judge. The NMC's Public Notice No. R-13014/01/2024-Ethics, dated 6 October 2026, restricts several of these practices for the professionals and institutions it covers.

Medmatis is an NMC-compliant healthcare digital marketing agency in Kolkata: our work is built around the National Medical Commission's 2026 guidelines. Whether those guidelines bind dental practitioners directly is a legal question, so here is how we apply their principles to dental clinics. How we approach the rules.

The short answer

Dental sites can publish factual treatment, fee and contact information. "Painless" claims, superiority claims and smile-makeover photos are risky, and whether the NMC notice binds dentists directly needs legal advice.

Updated 23 October 2026. Based on the NMC's Public Notice No. R-13014/01/2024-Ethics of 6 October 2026. Not legal advice.

What patients ask before they choose

How much do dental implants cost in Kolkata?A clinic can publish a clear, factual fee page explaining what a quoted fee covers. Do not imply that a price guarantees an outcome, and do not use limited-time offers to pressure patients into treatment. The clinic should verify every price (cl. 8.1 x).
Is root canal treatment painful or painless?A dental information page should describe the treatment process without promising a pain-free experience. The notice names "painless treatment" among barred claims (cl. 8.1 iii), and the dentist should review clinical wording before publication.
How long do braces take to straighten teeth?A responsible page can explain what an orthodontic consultation covers and why each treatment plan needs professional assessment. Avoid promising a fixed timeline or a guaranteed result (cl. 8.1 iii, vi).
How do I choose a dentist in Kolkata?Publish verifiable practice information: address, opening hours, contact details and factual service descriptions. Avoid labels such as "best dentist" or "No. 1 implant clinic", which need objective, independent proof (cl. 8.1 ix).
Is a dentist available near me today?Accurate location, opening hours and contact details help people find a clinic without exaggerated claims. Keep the website and local listings consistent and update them when details change. Search optimisation is not barred; manipulating rankings to mislead is (cl. 8.1 xii).
Is there a free dental check-up camp near me?A clinic should not use an offer that encourages unnecessary treatment or amounts to solicitation (cl. 8.1 x). Whether a specific free check-up camp is acceptable depends on its design and context, so take legal advice before promoting one.

The NMC rules that matter most for dental clinics

The notice addresses registered medical practitioners and medical institutions. Whether it reaches a dental practice directly needs legal advice (see the last rule), and we apply its principles as a standard either way. Using an agency does not remove the clinic's own responsibility for what is published.

Not allowed "Painless" and guaranteed claimsClause 8.1 iii names "painless treatment" and "guaranteed cures" among barred claims, together with any unverifiable or exaggerated claim. Do not promise pain-free root canal treatment, guaranteed implant outcomes or certainty of results. Publish a dentist-reviewed explanation of the procedure and what a consultation covers.
Not allowed Smile transformations and patient photosClauses 8.1 v and 6.2 bar promotional before-and-after photographs and patient stories, and consent alone does not make them acceptable. Do not use smile-makeover comparisons or implant-result photographs as advertising proof. Explain the treatment stages without identifiable patient material or promised outcomes.
Allowed with care Implant brands and product endorsementsClause 8.1 iv bars endorsing drugs, devices and products in connection with the practitioner's name, photograph, voice or status. Do not turn an implant system into an endorsement or imply that a named brand guarantees better results. Describe equipment factually if needed (cl. 3.2, Explanation II).
Allowed with care Discounts, packages and free checksClause 8.1 x bars discounts, coupons, gifts and free procedures that are likely to encourage unnecessary care or amount to solicitation. Do not use countdown offers, limited-time implant deals or free-treatment promotions to pressure patients. A factual fee page can state charges without urgency.
Allowed with care "Best dentist" and superiority wordingClause 8.1 ix bars comparative claims such as "best", "leading" and "No. 1" unless they are objectively verifiable by a transparent, independent method. Do not call a dentist the best implant specialist or a clinic the top dental centre without that basis. Publish verifiable qualifications and facts.
Your responsibility Who the notice coversThe notice applies to registered medical practitioners (cl. 3.7, 4.1) and to hospitals and medical institutions, which can include clinical establishments (cl. 3.4). Dentists are regulated under their own law, so direct coverage of a dental practice is unclear. Take legal advice; we apply the notice's principles as a standard.

What to publish, and what to leave out

Do

  • Publish factual implant and root canal explainers
  • Keep clinic hours, address and contact details current
  • Provide a verified fee page without pressure tactics
  • Have the dentist review clinical wording

Don't

  • Promise "painless" treatment or guaranteed outcomes
  • Use smile makeovers as before-and-after promotion
  • Promote implant brands as endorsements or guarantees
  • Use urgency-led offers to push treatment
What we won't do

We will not build dental campaigns around "painless" promises, guaranteed implant results, smile-transformation photographs, patient testimonials or claims that a dentist or implant system is the best. We will not buy reviews, script patient praise, manufacture urgency around offers or manipulate search visibility. We never price our work per patient or per enquiry (cl. 8.1 vii, viii).

Questions from dental clinics

Can a dental clinic advertise discounts under the 2026 NMC notice?

Not every discount or offer is acceptable. Clause 8.1 x bars discounts, coupons, gifts and free procedures likely to encourage unnecessary care or amount to solicitation. A clinic should not assume an implant package, free consultation or check-up offer is fine because it is common. Whether the notice binds dentists directly needs legal advice.

Can dentists publish smile-transformation before-and-after photos?

Do not use them as promotional proof. Clauses 8.1 v and 6.2 bar promotional before-and-after material and patient stories, and consent alone does not make them acceptable. Publish dentist-reviewed treatment-process information instead, without patient images that imply a result.

Can a dental clinic call itself the best implant centre in Kolkata?

Avoid it without proof. Clause 8.1 ix allows claims such as "best", "leading" or "No. 1" only where they are objectively verifiable by a transparent, independent method. A self-written claim, or an award mentioned without its basis, is not enough. Publish verified qualifications, services and practice details instead.

Is local SEO or a Google Maps listing prohibited for dentists?

No. The notice bars fake engagement and manipulating search rankings or visibility to create a misleading impression (cl. 8.1 xii), not search optimisation itself. Accurate hours, location, contact details and factual service descriptions are the right approach. The wording and purpose of any promotional content still matter.

Can a dentist promote a free check-up camp?

It depends on the camp and how it is promoted. Clause 8.1 x bars free procedures, discounts and offers likely to encourage unnecessary care or amount to solicitation. Calling an event an awareness camp does not settle the question, so take legal advice on the format and copy before publishing.

Can a dental clinic send patient reminders by email or WhatsApp?

Only with a privacy and purpose check. Clause 7.6 requires personal data used in advertising to follow the IT Act and the DPDP Act, and clause 7.4 protects patient identity. Review the purpose, the consent or other basis, the data used and who can access it, and keep reminders informational, not pressure to buy treatment.

Does Medmatis work with dental clinics in Kolkata?

Yes. We help dental clinics in Kolkata with search and local visibility, dentist-reviewed content, website development and consent-aware email, built around the principles of the NMC's guidelines. Whether the notice binds dentists directly is a legal question, so we flag that uncertainty and never claim guaranteed compliance. We promise no rankings or outcomes.

These answers explain a public notice in plain language and quote its clause numbers. They are not legal advice. Read the original NMC notice and take advice on your own situation. Last updated 23 October 2026.
