For cardiologists and heart-care centres in Kolkata

Digital Marketing For Cardiologists In Kolkata, Built Around The NMC Rules

Cardiologists and cardiac-care institutions need to communicate clearly about services, investigations and facilities without using fear to attract patients or overstating outcomes. The NMC's Public Notice No. R-13014/01/2024-Ethics, dated 6 October 2026, sets boundaries for medical advertising. In cardiology, that means calm heart-health education, accurate service information and verified emergency contact details.

Medmatis is an NMC-compliant healthcare digital marketing agency in Kolkata: our work is built around the National Medical Commission's 2026 guidelines. Here is how those rules apply to cardiologists and cardiac-care institutions, and what we do about them.

The short answer

Cardiology practices can publish factual service information and non-promotional heart-health education. Avoid fear-based messaging, unsupported success claims, misleading technology claims and unnecessary-screening offers.

Updated 23 October 2026. Based on the NMC's Public Notice No. R-13014/01/2024-Ethics of 6 October 2026. Not legal advice.

What patients ask before they choose

What are the warning signs of a heart problem?A patient-education page can explain general warning signs using clinician-reviewed information and direct readers to appropriate care. Avoid alarming headlines or using fear to generate enquiries. The content should inform the public, not promote a practice (cl. 5.1; cl. 8.1 i).
What does an angiogram involve for a patient? An explainer can describe the general purpose of an angiogram, what to discuss with the cardiologist and where to ask about preparation and risks. Have a clinician review it, and do not imply the procedure is risk-free or right for everyone.
What does a heart check-up cost in Kolkata?Cost depends on the tests and services included. A practice can publish clear fees or explain how to request an estimate. Avoid misleading packages, pressure-based offers or wording suggesting everyone needs the same screening tests (cl. 8.1 x).
Where can I find the hospital's emergency contact number?Keep emergency contact details easy to find and verify that the number, location and service information are current (cl. 8.3). Do not use an urgent situation as a chance for promotional messaging or misleading claims about a provider.
What cardiac services are available at this clinic?A clinic can describe its actual services, consultation arrangements, facilities and practitioner details accurately. Do not imply that equipment or a service guarantees better outcomes. Factual information helps people understand what is available (cl. 8.3, 9.1).
How do I choose a cardiologist or cardiac-care centre?Patients can check qualifications, registration, services, location, contact details and how to book or ask for a second opinion. Avoid unsupported "best cardiologist" claims, unverifiable rankings or success-rate figures implying superiority (cl. 8.1 iii, ix).

The NMC rules that matter most for cardiologists and cardiac-care institutions

The notice binds doctors and hospitals, and an agency does not remove that responsibility (cl. 4.4). These are the clauses we design around.

Not allowed Do not use fear to generate enquiriesClause 8.1 i bars fear-based marketing and advertising meant to create unnecessary demand. Avoid alarming headlines, exaggerated risk language or messages that use anxiety about heart disease to push patients towards one provider. Heart-health education should inform calmly, not turn fear into a promotional tactic.
Allowed with care Review screening packages and offersClause 8.1 x bars discounts, coupons and free procedures likely to encourage unnecessary care or amount to solicitation. Do not promote blanket screening as necessary for everyone or use time-limited offers to pressure decisions. Publish factual information on tests and fees, and review each package before promotion.
Not allowed Avoid unsupported success-rate claimsClause 8.1 iii bars advertising success rates or patient numbers with exaggerated or unverifiable assertions, and 8.1 vi bars unrealistic expectations. Treat procedure success rates and volumes as barred unless legal advice says otherwise. Never imply that a statistic predicts one patient's outcome or proves a provider is better.
Allowed with care Describe cardiac technology factuallyClause 3.2, Explanation II, allows factual information on equipment and diagnostic facilities, without superiority, guaranteed accuracy or outcomes, or comparisons, and 8.1 iv bars device endorsements tied to a doctor. Avoid unsupported comparisons or claims that a cath lab, device or technique guarantees better results.
Not allowed Keep patient stories out of promotionClauses 8.1 v and 6.2 bar promotional patient stories and before-and-after material, and consent alone does not make them acceptable. Use general heart-health education instead of recovery stories as proof, and protect identifiable patient information across sites, videos and posts (cl. 6.1, 7.4).
Your responsibility Maintain accurate institutional informationKeep service descriptions, facility details, contact information and practitioner credentials accurate. Clauses 8.3 and 9.1 allow factual institutional information within limits. Under clause 4.4, using an agency does not remove the responsibility of the doctor or institution for content it authorised.

What to publish, and what to leave out

Do

  • Explain cardiac investigations and their purpose
  • Publish verified emergency contact information
  • Describe cardiac facilities in factual terms
  • Share calm, cardiologist-reviewed education

Don't

  • Use fear of a heart attack to solicit patients
  • Promote screening packages as necessary for everyone
  • Present success rates as proof of superiority
  • Use patient recovery stories as promotional evidence
What we won't do

We will not create cardiology campaigns built around fear, unsupported success rates or claims that cardiac technology guarantees better outcomes. We will not use misleading screening offers, promotional patient stories or urgency-based messages to pressure people into enquiries. Emergency information is practical public information, not a promotional hook. We never price our work per patient or per enquiry (cl. 8.1 vii, viii).

Read our guide to the rules and how we approach them.

Questions from cardiologists and cardiac-care institutions

Can a cardiology practice publish heart-health awareness posts?

Yes, when they are educational and non-promotional. Clause 5.1 allows health awareness content that does not promote the practice or solicit patients, and clause 8.1 i bars fear-based marketing. Keep posts calm, factual and clinically reviewed, and avoid alarming headlines or calls to action that turn public-health information into enquiries.

Can we advertise a heart check-up package?

Review the package and its promotion first. Clause 8.1 x bars discounts and offers likely to encourage unnecessary care or amount to solicitation, while lawful disclosure of fees that is factual, transparent and not misleading is allowed. Do not suggest everyone needs the same tests, and do not use limited-time offers to pressure decisions.

Can a cardiologist publish procedure success rates?

Treat them as barred unless legal advice says otherwise. Clause 8.1 iii bars advertising success rates or patient numbers with exaggerated or unverifiable assertions. Any proposed statistic needs review of its evidence, source and context, and must never imply it predicts an individual outcome or proves one provider is better.

Can we promote our cath lab or cardiac technology?

Factually, yes. Clause 3.2, Explanation II, allows factual information on equipment and diagnostic facilities without superiority, guaranteed outcomes or comparisons, and clause 8.1 iv restricts endorsements. Describe the facility accurately, imply no better results, and have technical claims reviewed before publication.

Should emergency contact information appear on the website?

Yes. Accurate contact information is practical public information, and clauses 8.3 and 9.1 allow factual institutional details. Make emergency numbers and service details easy to find, verify that they are current, and keep promotional claims away from them so nobody searching for urgent help is confused.

Can we share a patient's recovery story after cardiac treatment?

Not as promotional patient material. Clause 8.1 v bars promotional patient stories and before-and-after content, and clause 6.2 says consent alone does not make them acceptable. Use general educational explainers instead. Any scientific or educational use of patient material needs separate review of purpose, consent and privacy.
