For rheumatologists and arthritis clinics in Kolkata
Digital Marketing For Rheumatologists In Kolkata, Built Around The NMC Rules
Rheumatologists care for people living with persistent joint symptoms or long-term inflammatory conditions. Patients meet claims promising cures, reversal or dramatic improvement, so careful communication matters. The NMC's Public Notice No. R-13014/01/2024-Ethics, dated 6 October 2026, sets boundaries for medical advertising and public communication. A responsible practice page explains services and supports informed questions without promising outcomes.
Medmatis is an NMC-compliant healthcare digital marketing agency in Kolkata: our work is built around the National Medical Commission's 2026 guidelines. Here is how those rules apply to rheumatologists, and what we do about them.
Rheumatology practices can publish factual service information and non-promotional education. Avoid cure guarantees, unproven treatment claims, promotional patient stories and endorsements of supplements or brands.

What patients ask before they choose
The NMC rules that matter most for rheumatologists
The notice binds doctors and hospitals, and an agency does not remove that responsibility (cl. 4.4). These are the clauses we design around.
What to publish, and what to leave out
✓Do
- Explain common rheumatology questions in plain language
- Describe consultation and follow-up arrangements
- Publish verified clinician and clinic information
- Encourage informed questions for the rheumatologist
✕Don't
- Promise to cure or reverse every arthritis condition
- Recommend supplement brands as treatment endorsements
- Promote unproven remedies as established therapies
- Use patient recovery stories as promotional proof
How Medmatis works with rheumatologists
We will not write blanket cure claims, promise permanent arthritis reversal or promote unproven remedies as established treatment. We will not turn supplement recommendations into product endorsements or use patient recovery stories as promotional proof. Clinical claims are flagged for rheumatologist review. We never price our work per patient or per enquiry (cl. 8.1 vii, viii).
Read our guide to the rules and how we approach them.
Questions from rheumatologists
Can a rheumatologist say a treatment cures arthritis?
No blanket cure guarantees. Clause 8.1 iii names "guaranteed cures" among barred claims, and clause 8.1 vi bars unrealistic expectations. Arthritis covers many conditions, so public communication should not promise that one treatment cures or permanently reverses them all. Have the rheumatologist review clinical claims.
Can a rheumatologist recommend a supplement on social media?
Treat it as an endorsement risk. Clause 8.1 iv bars endorsing drugs, devices and products tied to the doctor's name, photograph, voice or status, and a casual-sounding post naming a brand can still qualify. Prefer general education and questions for the treating clinician, and review any brand mention before publishing.
Can we publish tips for living with a long-term joint condition?
Yes, as education rather than promotion. Clause 5.1 allows health education that does not promote the practice or solicit patients. Keep it factual, clinically reviewed and clear that it is general. Avoid fear-based messaging, unsupported remedies or wording suggesting the same advice suits every patient.
Can we share a patient's improvement story with consent?
Not as promotional patient material. Clause 8.1 v bars promotional patient stories and before-and-after content, and clause 6.2 says consent alone does not make them acceptable. Use general educational explainers instead. Any scientific or educational use of patient material needs separate review of purpose, consent and anonymisation.
What should a rheumatology clinic website include?
Start with accurate, practical information: services, clinician qualifications and registration, location, contact details and appointment arrangements. Clauses 8.3 and 9.1 allow factual institutional information. Keep clinical content reviewed and avoid cure promises, unsupported superiority claims or product endorsements.
Can a rheumatologist offer online consultations?
The notice does not settle whether a consultation model is permissible, so check the rules for your actual service. Keep the description of consultation arrangements factual and make no unsupported promises about diagnosis or outcomes. Take advice on the service model and wording before publication.
