Digital Marketing For Nephrologists & Dialysis Centres In Kolkata, Built Around The NMC Rules

Nephrologists and dialysis centres need to make practical information easy to find: location, timings, services, doctor details and charges where the centre chooses to publish them. Kidney care involves recurring visits, so reminders need careful handling too. The NMC's Public Notice No. R-13014/01/2024-Ethics, dated 6 October 2026, supports factual institutional information while setting limits on fear-based promotion, certain offers and the use of personal data.

Medmatis is an NMC-compliant healthcare digital marketing agency in Kolkata: our work is built around the National Medical Commission's 2026 guidelines. Here is how those rules apply to nephrology and dialysis centres, and what we do about them.

The short answer

Dialysis and nephrology websites can publish factual centre information, verified doctor details and timings. Avoid fear-led claims and pressure-based offers, and send recurring reminders only with consent and data safeguards.

What patients ask before they choose

Where is the nearest dialysis centre?A centre can make its address, contact details, operating hours and available services easy to find on its website and local listings. Keep them accurate and consistent. Factual institutional information is covered by cl. 8.3 and 9.1.
What are the dialysis centre timings?Publish verified opening hours and explain how to confirm session availability. Update them when schedules change, and do not imply a session is available unless the centre has confirmed it. A clear contact route beats unsupported promotional claims (cl. 8.3, 9.1).
How much does dialysis cost at a centre? If the centre chooses to publish charges, use a factual fee page and verify it before publication. Explain what the fee covers, without pressure-based offers or implied outcomes. Offers and discounts are restricted by cl. 8.1 x.
What is a kidney transplant evaluation?A centre can publish a general, clinician-reviewed explanation of what its service covers and where to ask further questions. Do not promise eligibility or outcomes (cl. 8.1 vi for doctors; cl. 8.3 for the centre). Direct individual questions to the treating team.
How should I prepare for a dialysis session?A centre can publish practical, clinician-reviewed information about its own appointment process and what patients should confirm with their care team. It should not replace individual medical advice, and the nephrology team should verify any steps first.
What diet questions should I ask my kidney doctor?A useful page can help patients prepare questions for their treating doctor without prescribing a diet or presenting general content as personal advice. Have the clinical team review it and keep it separate from promotional claims (cl. 5.1 for doctors).

The NMC rules that matter most for nephrology and dialysis centres

The notice binds doctors and hospitals, and an agency does not remove that responsibility (cl. 4.4). These are the clauses we design around.

Allowed Factual centre and service informationClauses 8.3 and 9.1 describe a factual information model for institutions. A dialysis centre can organise its public information around location, timings, facilities, equipment, doctor details and charges. Keep statements verifiable and current, and free of superiority claims.
Allowed with care Patient reminders are personal-data useClauses 7.4 and 7.6 address patient identity and personal data in advertising. A recurring dialysis reminder list is not simply a marketing list: review the purpose, consent or other basis, who can access it and reminder preferences before sending anything by email, SMS or WhatsApp.
Allowed with care Packages, discounts and free servicesClause 8.1 x bars discounts, coupons, gifts and free procedures likely to encourage unnecessary care or amount to solicitation. Avoid pressure-led dialysis packages or countdown offers. A factual fee page can state charges without urgency. Review each proposed offer in its context.
Not allowed Fear-based kidney-disease messagingClause 8.1 i bars fear-based marketing and advertising meant to create unnecessary demand. Do not use frightening imagery, alarmist language or messages that pressure people into choosing a centre. Publish calm, clinician-reviewed education and refer individual concerns to a professional.
Allowed with care Machines and equipment claimsClause 3.2, Explanation II, allows factual information on equipment and facilities, without superiority, guaranteed accuracy or outcomes, or comparisons. Describe machines accurately. Do not imply that a machine produces better outcomes or makes the centre better than others.
Your responsibility Responsibility for published informationUnder clause 4.4, using an agency does not remove the responsibility of the doctor or institution for content it authorised. The centre should verify timings, charges, service descriptions and doctor details, and decide who approves updates. Medmatis supports the process; the centre confirms its facts.

What to publish, and what to leave out

Do

  • Publish verified dialysis timings and contact details
  • Explain centre services and charges factually
  • Review patient data before sending reminders
  • Use calm, clinician-reviewed kidney-care education

Don't

  • Use fear to pressure patients into choosing a centre
  • Promote offers that may encourage unnecessary care
  • Send reminders without a proper privacy review
  • Claim equipment guarantees better treatment outcomes
What we won't do

We will not create fear-led kidney-disease campaigns, promise treatment outcomes, make unsupported claims about dialysis equipment or promote offers that pressure people into unnecessary care. We will not treat a recurring patient list as automatically suitable for promotional messages, or manipulate search visibility to mislead. We never price our work per patient or per enquiry (cl. 8.1 vii, viii).

Read our guide to the rules and how we approach them.

Questions from nephrology and dialysis centres

What information should a dialysis centre put on its website?

Start with accurate, practical information. Clauses 8.3 and 9.1 describe a factual model for institutions: address, contact details, operating hours, services, doctor profiles with required details, and charges where the centre chooses to disclose them. Assign someone to check this information and update it when arrangements change.

Can a dialysis centre send session reminders by WhatsApp or SMS?

Only after a privacy and purpose review. Clauses 7.4 and 7.6 address patient identity and personal data. Before sending recurring messages, check the purpose, the consent or other basis, who can access the contact list and how requests to stop messages are handled. Having a phone number does not permit every kind of message.

Can a kidney-care centre publish awareness posts about kidney disease?

Education can be appropriate when it is not promotion. For doctors, clauses 5.1 and 8.2 iii allow health education that does not promote or solicit for their practice, while clause 8.1 i bars fear-based marketing. Have the nephrologist review the content, avoid alarmist messages that drive demand, and keep education separate from superiority claims.

Can a dialysis centre advertise its machines and equipment?

Factual equipment information is different from a superiority claim. Clause 3.2, Explanation II, allows factual information on equipment without superiority, guaranteed outcomes or comparisons. Describe verified facilities, have the clinical team confirm the technical wording, and remove any comparative statements before publication.

Can a dialysis centre offer discounted packages?

Some offers are restricted, depending on their purpose and presentation. Clause 8.1 x bars discounts, coupons, gifts and free procedures likely to encourage unnecessary care or amount to solicitation. Avoid countdown promotions and pressure-led offers. A factual fee page can state charges without urgency; review any package in its specific context first.

Can a centre list visiting nephrologists on its website?

Yes, as a factual directory. Clause 9.1 treats a directory of names, recognised qualifications, specialties, registration details and availability as patient information, and clause 3.2, Explanations III and IV, requires the disclosures. Verify each doctor's details, keep availability accurate, and do not turn the list into a ranking.
